Yippy Playground Projects: Kinnerlant Kleuterskool January 2013

Kinnerlant Kleuterskool in Monument contacted us when they realised that they needed new swings in their playground. And Playground Research shows, you can never have enough swings!

The school took, in total; One Tyre Bucket Swing, which is an all round swing that can be used from the age of around two (with supervision) up to 92.

Two Tyre Horse Swings, this one is a swing for exercise - children must put their feet in the stirrups and giddy up themselves, no pushing required. A great work out for slightly older children.

And finally, three Tyre Belly Swings. Remember swinging on your belly when you were small? Yippys Belly Swing uses that principle for Toddlers learning to balance. Once they've mastered the swing on their belly, they can switch to using it as a normal swing seat.

We do hope the children at Kinnerlant feel that they now have enough swings for everyone, and for all ages!

Yippy Playground Projects: Little Giants Nursery School, Centurion

We visited Little Giants Nursery School in Centurion on one of our December Sales Trips, and were delighted to received an order from them to add some Yippy to their playground this month.

We do love adding Yippy to an existing Playground.

First things first, swings! Little Giants had a new Reclaimed Timber Pole Set with three Tyre Horse Swings, note the diameter of the poles we use. Yippy believes in making structures that last, so we use thicker poles than the industry standard.

Then we installed a Tyre Climbing Ball, a climber and Hideout in one piece.

And finally, as we were catering for preschoolers, a specially made Low Level Monkey Bars set.

As always, we come away from Little Giants Playground hoping we have added more exercise and physical strengthening tools .. along with a whole heap more fun!

Yippy Playground Projects: Tyre Elephants at Poplar. September 2012

A BRAND NEW product, the Yippy Tyre Elephant, that we here at Yippy are rapidly falling in love with.

Launched officially last month, Jason worked on prototypes and a redesign first but we were soon asked, by Poplar Academy in Crowthorne, to install a Family Group of three Elephants in their playground.

Huddled together at the Yippy workshop, waiting for a home ...

And so the first Yippy Tyre Elephants were installed.

We're certain that the Elephants are happy in their new playground, we hope the children love them also.

More Elephant re-homeing stories soon! AND we finally introduce you to the Yippy Tyre Rhino.

Yippy Playground Projects: Poplar Academy, Crowthorne. September 2012

We were asked back to the lovely Poplar Academy in Crowthorne in September and we're always pleased to be there.

This visit was to add Tyre Surrounds with Wood Chip Fill to two of the larger Tyre Jungle Gyms we had installed earlier this year.

And Principal Lizelle Naude had a great new idea of her own, she wanted Jason to make a Tyre and Wood Trailer to add to one of her Tyre Horse Climbers!

Jason and the team got started on digging the trenches needed to hold half-buried rows of tyres around each of the Gyms, creating a soft landing Boundary Wall.

Once the tyres were secure, the surround was dug down, earth removed and then a large load of Woodchip added (sand also available).

This creates a deep, shock absorbing landing space around the gyms to aid Jump Offs and help prevent injury from falls.

Next, an Old West style Trailer needed to be added to the Tyre Horse Climber we created in Poplars Preschool Playground. Clearly if the Horse isn't big enough for all your friends, then you need a Trailer.

Construction started with the supporting poles, Deck and Handrails
Wheels, a Drivers Seat, A Ladder and a Coat of Varnish ...
Have Horse and Trailer, will travel. As far as a Poplar Preschoolers imagination!

And just as we thought our Yippy work was done, in the distance the sound of a (small) herd of Tyre Elephants could be heard approaching Poplars playground.

Coming soon; 'Introducing the Yippy Tyre Elephants' and can our Tyre Rhinos help save the real ones?

Yippy Playground Projects: Monaghan Montessori, Lanseria. August 2012

Monaghan Farm Montessori is set in the Monaghan Farm development near Lanseria, giving it a beautiful and country-feel location.

Principal Xanthe Bester contacted us after she'd seen the Planet Bridge Jungle Gym we designed for Poplar Academy in Crowthorne and asked us to install one in the schools playground for her.

Yippy loves to restore and reuse materials, so we were more than happy to reduce our normal price when Xanthe told us she had an old slide she wanted us to use.

The Planet Bridge Gym is made in two sizes, for Pre-School and Primary School age, and installation starts with the construction of two large Tyre Balls and a Tyre Tunnel Bridge adjoining.

Next, the supporting poles go into the ground and the deck platform for the slide is constructed and connected.

Poles and handrails, the deck is taking shape.
Lastly, the deck is completed and the recycled slide added, with a Tyre and Sand landing base for soft landings.

Slide and Landing Tyre added.

Thanks for having us Monaghan Montessori, we loved adding a Yippy product to your Playground and we hope the children are loving it.

Yippy Playground Projects: Poplar Academy, Crowthorne. April 2012

When Lizelle Naude, Principal of Poplar Academy in Crowthorne, emailed Yippy at the beginning of April and said "I would like to add a few structures to our playgrounds this term" suffice to say, it made Yippys day! We'd worked with Poplar in December last year and this time, Lizelle had emailed two designs of her own that she wanted us to realise. Jason couldn't wait to get started.

First of Lizelle's designs was for a Horse Ride On Climber for the Preschool playground.

He/she needs a name ... anyone?

The design worked so well we went on to make a larger one for the Primary playground also and we'll definitely be adding the Horse Climber to our product list very soon.

The second design was for a low level Mini Jungle Gym climb through, again for the Preschool playground, another item that worked well and we'll be adding to our product list also.

The low-level Mini Gym with two Swings

It's so refreshing to have a customers input in this way, Yippy loves working on bespoke designs and Lizelles were so good, we may have to come back to her for design advice in the future ...

In addition to the bespoke items, Yippy added a Tyre Tunnel, some Bucket Swings and a low set of Monkey Bars to the Preschool Playground.

Tyre Tunnel. Where does it lead ... ?!

Then we moved on to the Primary Playground and Horse Climber number two, the larger model, along with a very large Dragonfly Tyre Climber, that Jason had designed for Poplar last year.

We finished the project by replacing Poplars sandpit shading, with a larger Stretch Tent Shade to cover the head of the new Dragonfly as well.

It was so nice to be back in the lovely playgrounds at Poplar. Once again, the Yippy Tester Boys (owners sons, four and two) tested all equipment very thoroughly and we hope that when the children of Poplar returned for the new term, they enjoyed discovering the new 'Yippy' in their playgrounds.

Yippy Playground Projects: Linksfield Castle Nursery School, Edenvale. March 2012

Linksfield Castle Nursery School in Edenvale is one of a group of three schools owned by Sao Rosa and Lucy da Silva and when the ladies contacted us and asked us if we'd install pieces in all three schools, we couldn't wait to get started.

The schools requests included for a large Pirate Ship and a couple of Ten Tyre Swings.

Linksfield has a lovely contained playground and there was space for a few new additions and some exciting pieces for the children to stretch themselves and have fun on.

We installed a small Tyre Ball Climber first, in a nice shady spot of the playground. This one's good for all ages and very simple and quick to install.

Inside or Outside, there's lots of scope for climb.

Second, a Truck Tyre Tunnel. Another great climber that adds a bit of tunneling play also.

Next, we installed a See Saw. All made with reclaimed timber poles and using tyre rubber to create the seats, hand holds and all important shock absorbers!

Not one piece of tyre wasted.
And finally, and the largest piece we added to this lovely playground - a Ten Tyre Swing.

Enough room for a whole class to swing together.
We loved this project, and there's more to come. Follow our blog to know when we post the second stage of this project, a Pirate Ship at the sister school!
